Traditional town pub on the main road into Gosport, a large single U-shaped corner bar. It feels vaguely nostalgic with its etched glass, low lighting and paintings which allude to the Battle after which it's named. There is seating at the front outside, but no glass is allowed due to a local by-law; this is compensated for by the issue of plastic glasses. There is a thriving local spirit, and the pub is proud of its darts team's prowess. The barman was friendly, professional and very welcoming, while the locals were also quite pleased to chat. Only 1 ale on - Doombar, which was well kept and tasted wonderful. Definitely one of the better pubs in this part of town, I'd be happy to drop in for a drink anytime when passing.
