A super location overlooking the village pond (even if the main road gets in the way…). Red and cream interior like a 1940's station waiting room but done-out in the early 80’s I suspect, all quite trad and enjoyable. Nice effort at the bar with social distancing between the chairs in order for the regulars to chat shit to the barstaff and each other, as normal. Food being served-up for regular family groups, no screaming kids or stuffy pashminas. Three cask on, two nationals and a more local one in Sixpenny Best (NBSS 3). Nice place

A roadside country pub which now caters mainly for diners and is family-friendly. There is a good sized car park at the side, and a large garden outside with a children's play area, complete with swings and climbing frames. The two old bars have been knocked through to form a single bar/dining area which has a rather tired carpet on the floor. There is also a sizable entrance porch with a piano in it. The décor is traditional 1980s, the food good and plentiful, and there are three ales on. I had Plain Ales's The Bitter Wife, which was most enjoyable and very well kept. Worth stopping off for lunch or a few beers in the evening.
