This 17th Century thatched village pub was once a brewery with an off-sales licence, but is now better known for its restaurant food and skittle alley. Over the last two years it has declined in popularity, largely because its prices have increased while its quality hasn't. The food is still good, but it offers less value for money than other, similar pubs. Its beer is OK but nothing special - its all Badger and the cellarman is no expert; my pint of Best was palatable but not in peak condition. There is sometimes a guest beer on, but not this time. The clientele is a mix of villagers, caravaners and old people from Salisbury, while the staff appear uninterested in occasional customers. It's fine to drop in when travelling into Salisbury from the East, and it's OK for lunch or a swift pint, but I'm not sure I would want to spend a whole evening here.
