A large dining pub by a roundabout with a marquee in front of it being prepared for an event of some sort at the time of my arrival. There are four hand pumps on the bar, each with a brown label attached, in addition to the usual pump clips. Without my glasses I thought these were the sort of "coming soon" notices that some pubs use, but on closer inspection it turned out they were merely rudimentary descriptions of the beers. My half of Black Sheep seemed to be in good condition, but after I left I was was getting a slightly sour taste at the back of my mouth which didn't go until I had a further beer nearly an hour later, so there was something not quite right about this one which maybe its cold temperature had successfully disguised. This is a handsome building and very smartly presented once inside, but despite the seeming attempt to showcase the real ales I am not convinced that it is a drinker's pub.
