Strongers . left this review about Unagi
Lime is now a sushi and cocktail bar called Unagi which is a chain that seems to be doing well around Manchester. The seating layout hasn’t really changed with much of the large interior being mainly standing room with some high tables to the right and booths up the left. The long counter runs across the rear wall where premium and craft keg are available. The hand pumps have been removed. There’s now a central island kitchen where a very busy chef was preparing Asian style dishes for the few in attendance early on a recent Friday evening. The food looked very good. There was some dance background music being supplied by a DJ who had set up on the right edge of the serving counter. The service was very friendly, but this place is too big to generate much ambiance other than being an eating and drinking barn.

Lime is a large bar / restaurant with standard tables and chairs set for dining in the left hand side, including three large booths along the left hand wall for groups, and high tables and stools in the right hand side, which is in effect the bar area. The long bar counter that runs across the rear wall supports a premium keg range alongside three handpumps, two of which were in operation. Televisions for showing live sport are located throughout. A DJ is advertised for Friday and Saturday nights when I expect the doors shut late. I actually thought this place was better than the outside suggests and I found the staff to be extremely friendly, even though it was a quiet and boring Wednesday night. I will drink here again, just probably not at the weekend.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Lime
Not obviously a real ale sort of place, being in an arcade together with the likes of a Harvester and Café Rouge. Indeed, it is very much a modern bar / restaurant inside, albeit one with some unusual bronze metalwork, but there is a fair amount of general seating (including under the covered terrace outside). Anyway, thankfully there are three handpumps on the counter dispensing Doom Bar, The Wild Turkey from Federation and Redwillow Reckless (£4.00) on this visit.

This place didn't look to inspiring as I approached as it looked, like a lot of places in Salford Quays area, a modern monstrosity. Inside was as I expected though 3 handpulls on the bar were a surprise. The place is open plan with one side basically for diners and the other for drinkers. Not a place I'll ever visit again but it was here so I had to pop in.

Visited years ago so thought I would call in again to refresh my memory. As I got near the bar I spotted three hand pulls, two of which were on, offering Doom Bar and another big national that I can't remember. Did an about turn and left. Would go back again to see if the ale selection has changed. Won't leave a rating as I must have spent all of 30 seconds in the place.

Salford Quays has changed a lot since the last review. This is part bar, part restaurant with the left hand side as you enter, set up for dining. There's still plenty of space for drinkers though. There's lots of copper in here including two large copper towers. Lots of interesting pictures around the walls as well. There was a film crew in the left hand side filming a scene. The toilets are "interesting", you pee on to a glass wall which was backlit with a lime green glow. 3 handpumps on the bar serving 7 Brothers EPA, Redwillow Mirthless and the rather less interesting Deuchars IPA. The Mirthless was a good pint. I was quite happy sitting here for a pint, but it's not a place to spend a session.

On a rare visit to Manchester we decided to spend a Sunday afternoon looking round the Salford Quays area, expecting a similar sort of dockland regeneration to that in other port cities. Unfortunately Salford Quays remains pretty desolate with just the Lowry theatre and a vast shopping precinct selling second quality clothing and a few identikit chain restaurants constituting the attractions on offer.
The only place approximating a pub that we could find was the Lime facing over the windblown courtyard outside the Lowry and it fits in perfectly with the sterile surroundings. Loud music, fizzy lager, outrageous prices, surly teenagers behind the bar. Could be anywhere really and completely unsuited to the predominately middle aged or older clientele on similar expeditions to us looking for a pleasant afternoon beer. You could be anywhere really.
One pint and we got the tram back into Manchester to find a proper pub.
