Looking like it’s had a good spruce-up recently from the outside, it’s a large and airy L shaped place within. Some semi-traditional touches - acorn wallpaper, third length wood panelling. A dart board and pool table were down a step on the left side, in a rather nice area that had red/black chequerboard flooring and some more wood panelling as well as a stove fire and upmarket seating options. Eight pumps at the bar though there was much doubling, which left Everards Tiger, Old Original (good nick), Ashover Poets and Rosie's Pig cider. I retreated to the amazing beer garden with huge weeping willows which was a rather special place to sup my half. I liked it here and it’s the first place we were recognised off Radio Rutland giving us some airtime, which was a bonus. 7.5

The White Lion is a decent looking white painted pub that is next to a stream it was very quiet when we went in but this was early Saturday dinner. The Tiger Bitter was very drinkable this is an Everards tied house it might have seemed a bit better if it was a bit more busy.
