A good solid drinkers pub with the locals frequenting the main bar area as you enter. The main bar area walls are painted in a dark blue along with the bar front. Two banks of mustard coloured booths along positioned along the front windows. There is a small lounge area to the left of entrance if you prefer the more refined approach. To the back of the pub was a small room on the left near the beer board and a rear courtyard.
Seven ales on handpump, three from Brampton Brewery Terminus, Best and Golden Bud. Their four guest were Rat Brewery Rat in the Hat, Blue Monkey Sanctcherry, Kelham Island Easy Rider and Tindall Brewery Galaxy Dream. The barman was friendly and jolly, locals were good fun so made a return visit the following night. The Brampton Terminus was amazing and the prices in here very reasonable.

Renamed, restyled and now owned and run by Brampton Brewery. At the time of my visit there were three cask beers from Brampton and one guest, plus a cider, but there can be up to six beers on and there is an additional outside bar on match days. My half of Brampton Mild 4.9% was my beer of the day (NBSS 4).

Formerly the Rose & Crown, this pub was re-opened in 2016 and features beers from Hop Jacker microbrewery, based at the Dronfield Arms a few miles north of here. At the time of my visit there were only five hand pumps, one of which was being used for cider, but the reduction from the regular six may have been due to the football season having ended.

The pub has been brought nicely up to date with bare floorboards, dark grey wood panelling and lighter grey banquettes. There were three Hop Jacker beers on offer, with a guest from Shiny. I had The Grifter, a very pleasant 4.6% stout. I imagine it would be a lot busier here when there's a football match on at the stadium just across the road. I hope to be back next season to find out.
