Now called Darwin's and now has 2 handpumps both badged up. My pint of Shropshire Gold was in very good nick and Ms CAMRA really liked the red wine. Not much else has changed since it was Mad Jacks really.

One cask one Salopian Lemon something or other. A modern type thingy that stretches back a bit. If this is the future of pubs I pity the kids of the future.

Was going to pop in for a quick pint and nose around on Saturday , the place has had a bit of a refurb , but it was rammed at half six in the evening with mostly 30-40 somethings so gave it a miss , they must be doing something right .

ROB Camra left this review about Mad Jacks Bar
This is a smart wine bar and restuarant. We called in for a meal which was excellent. It's quite a bit bigger than it looks from the outside with a covered conservatory area for drinkers and a further dining room at the rear. There were quite a few people eating but it's definitely not just a restaurant as at least half of the people in were just having a drink. There's a handpump on the bar, but sadly it wasn't in use as the beer had gone and they didn't have any more ready to go on in the cellar. As I understand it they buy a nine per week and when it's gone it's gone. The barman said they'd like to have another beer on, but sales of cask ale just didn't allow it at the moment. It's a very nice place to eat and it's a decent place for a drink for the middle class 30 somethings of Shrewsbury.
