Worryingly at 7 30 on a Saturday night there was only one other customer in here , the landlord said it was like this most Saturdays these days , it would be a shame if this place were to close as it is a good little pub , its starting to look a little shabby inside , three real ales on Ruddles County , Worthington and M&B Mild , i was a bit worried about the beer due to lack of custom , no need to worry the Mild was pretty good . This is a proper traditional local , lets hope it doesnt die

This is a proper locals pub with darts & pool and they also had two tables set up for the dominoes league match against the nearby Cross Foxes. It’s now a one roomed pub that obviously used to be two but it’s been opened out at some stage. There are pictures of whales and dolphins around the walls which is unusual. Over the mirror in the gents there’s a sign that says “Looking Good Nice”. It’s a little shabby both inside and out but that just adds to the character in this case. Three handpumps selling Worthington bitter, Ruddles County and M&B Mild. I had a pint of the mild, it was the best pint of M&B mild I’ve had in ages, maybe ever!! I got talking to the landlord and a couple of the regulars almost before I’d had a taste of my pint. There are load of characters in here and the banter was very amusing. As I was leaving I thanked the landlady for the excellent pint and a number of the locals called out to me to say goodbye, even though I’d been in less than 30 minutes. I think I’m going to have to call back next time I’m in this part of Shrewsbury. Thanks guys.
