What a great pub this is and probably shaved it as my Pub Of The Day on our recent crawl around Chesterfield.
Cannot really add much to Mr Fastard’s review below except to confirm that the available In house Resting Devil Brewery beer that he failed to note was their Lake Shawnee 6% Porter.
Five ale pumps greet you on the first section of the bar and when this section is busy, as it was for our visit, you could easily miss the other seven pumps lurking on the other bar section, but hopefully not the chalk board on the pillar between the two bar sections that details what is on them.
Three from the in house brewery and eight other ales as detailed by Mr Fastard below providing a superb choice of beer styles and strengths. I went for the Turning Point Become The Data Session IPA, as it’s a brewery I do not see much, and excellent it was.
A fine pub and well worth doing as a double with the nearby Neptune Beer Emporium with both of them justifiably being in the current GBG

Chesterfield Pub of the Year 2022, 2023 and 2024, there’s a very attractive interior, plush with much wood panelling, all to a very lively good atmosphere.
I counted 12 pumps, though a couple could have been dispensing pseudo ‘real’ cider, I adventurously plumped for the Landlord at £2.15 a half and very good.
A must-visit Chesterfield pub.

An extensive and attractive street corner pub with a very strong real ale reputation .The interior has original features ,lots of wood panelling and winds around the central bar.The doors are attractive and the various sections have a mix of furniture,the extension is large,green banquettes elsewhere,a darts board which can only be used when it's quiet,and the pub certainly wasn't quiet approaching 6pm on a Friday.The handpumps are split over two sides of the bar,with nearest the front door Bass,TT Landlord,Everards Tiger (is this a Project William pub featuring Resting Devil ,the pubs microbrewery ?),Bang the Elephant Have You Got a Kiss for Daddy,Red Willow Breakfast Stout while on the otherside there was Thornbridge Jack of All Taps (NBSS 4),Two by Two Azacca Mosaic, Only With Love Dabble ,Resting Devil Twisted Pale,Banshee and one Resting Devil I failed to note.
There is a large keg selection,a cabinet of rolls and pork pies,one of which was consumed by the PuG crawlers in honour of Real Ale Ray.
I was only visiting as part of a crawl,I really will have to revisit ,stay a lot longer and sample more of the excellent ale.This pub stands shoulder to shoulder with some of the great ale houses of the UK,it's an absolute must visit .

An excellent and lively pub with a great beer range. The decor is perhaps a bit suburban but it is a good drinking venue nonetheless and well worth a visit. I had to have a Bass, of course.

This has been one of my favourite pubs for quite a while and I can't believe my last review gave a rating of just 9. The beer quality here is tremendous - I always seem to be between 3.5 and 4.5 in my NBSS scores. The beers brewed on site - the Resting Devil brewery - are very well made, but on this visit the Brass Castle Hoparoo was a shoo in 4.5, not because it's a good beer, though it is, but because it's in such tremendous condition. If I was in a curmudgeonly mood I would deduct points for Halloween paraphernalia, but the very friendly customer service assistant was so willing to take all the blame that I'm prepared to forgive the "caution" tape on the front door. Roll on Christmas.

I've been here many times over the years - I remember when they used to feature beers from Leatherbritches brewery, and Ashover too. Everards Tiger is always on as this is one of that brewery's Project William pubs. There is now a microbrewery at the pub, called Resting Devil, and there were three of their beers on the bar today. I went for a 6% West Coast IPA called Banshee - it was very good. The real ale scene in Chesterfield is really very good for a medium-sized town, and this pub is right up there with the best.

The one large L shaped room is nicely decorated with lots of wood and pictures along with a mable look figure or two. Lots of hop bines around the ceiling and walls. Some very comfy chairs in the corners make for a very pleasant pub. Reasonably busy at around 5 p.m. on a Thursday evening. This is a Project William pub in conjunction with Ashover Brewery, there were 10 ales available on our visit, 2 from Ashover and the rest guests. Both the beers I had were in excellent nick. This is a very good pub and makes a great double header with the nearby Neptune.

This is a Project William pub originally set up with Brown Ales who were taken over by Ashover and who now have a couple of beers on here. It's an L shaped room with a wood floor and lots of wooden panelling. There is an extension to the rear. Live music was advertised for Saturday night. It was quiet on my Saturday afternoon visit.
There are twelve hand pumps here which included two from Ashover and Everard's Sunchaser rather than Tiger. The rest were mainly from the Midlands & North and I went for the Blue Monkey Fat Ape and Marble Howgate & Kemp (both £3.80). Both were excellent pints. This is another good Project William pub but I found it worrying that it was quiet on a Saturday afternoon.

The Chesterfield Arms is a decent sized white painted pub that is at the town end of newbold road.
Once inside there was an L shaped room with the bar facing,there was some comfy leather bench seating to the right,with a mix of seating types to the left,the floor was part tiled and carpeted,there were lots of hops hanging above the bar and around the room.
The bar facing the entrance had five pumps on,all in use,three had beers from a brewery called Brown Ales,which was local (Clay Cross),i had a drink of Brown Ales The Shining which was a very nice well kept beer,the other beers i noted were Brown Ales Gravity /Inception,Bass,Everards Tiger,Raw Euro IPA,Whim Flower Power,Black Hole Cyborg and Harvistoune Natural Blonde,there were 12 real ales on altogether,with four craft beers in the Barn to the rear,this only opens after 6 in the evening.
The pub was fairly busy mid Saturday afternoon with a decent atmosphere,there was also some decent background music playing.
This was a very pleasant pub to try some different real ales in.

A good traditional pub and well worth a visit. Friendly and knowlegdeable staff. The music was at a reasonable level, but whatever was playing it was a bit morbid. This is a crackin pub and doesn't need any music playing, maybe it was the staff's choice, wouldn't have been mine. Georgian Oak panelled interior, with a low oak bar serving 12 ales. Three from Leatherbritches, which slipped down easily. Also went for Thornbridge Topaz and Ashover Hydro, glad there was only a short and direct walk back into town.
