A nice little old pub on the Market Square with a slightly jumbled interior, perhaps a bit too twee with fairy lights and assorted tut in abundance but nice enough and friendly. Some reasonable and well-kept ales: Ossett Blonde, Wensleydale Semer Water, Bradfield Farmer's Blonde and Tetley Cask.

A more basic pub than the outside suggests, the bar counter is right at the back of the building past an open plan room and next to a small alcove all finished in rough plaster. To the front there is a dining and drinking space with a horsey theme, another with a brassy theme and at the back the bar is almost a separate room with whisky tube décor, TV and swiveling bar stools, there is a mix of traditional furniture in each section. Four handpumps including a light-up Black Sheep Bitter one, John Smiths, and a reasonable pint of Taylor's Landlord on the others, Magners for the cider but otherwise pretty standard kegs with Guinness, Fosters and Stella. A good mix of ages from teenagers to OAPs enjoying the popular sunday carvery when I called in. Plastic cards don't appear to be taken, which is odd in a tourist town like Leyburn, perhaps the customers are more local than tourist.
