Old Boots left this review about The Keg
Keg by name and of course keg by nature, eight solos of the stuff; lager, cider and stout plus John Smiths smooth. Frequented mostly by elderly gentlemen who enjoy popping out for a smoke, drinking poor quality beer, off hand service and ignoring sport on the screens, not playing the machine or using the juke box; one bloke did briefly sing along to one tune but he was under 50 (just). A square room decorated with Saltires on the ceiling and along the bar back. Nice carved counter and lined with tongue and groove where it’s not exposed painted brick. Earthy locals pub.

David Ross left this review about The Keg
A compact, one room bar on a pedestrian precinct, with toilets inconveniently located in the basement, The Keg seems to be aiming to cater for a varied age range, combining loud pop music and subtle lighting with horse racing on TV. The clientele was, however, mainly middle aged to elderly. It offers a limited range of drinks, with only John Smith's bitter, Guinness, Strongbow and Tennents and Carlsberg lagers available on draught. It was, at least, cheap, at only £2.60 for a pint of John Smith's, but there are several better drinking options in the city centre.
