Blue Scrumpy left this review about Danery

The Danery is a pub that I must have passed by many times in my life. Yet, I didn't even know it was there, as it's situated on a little side road alongside the main A442.

The pub has a bit of a bikers theme with plenty of Harley Davidson memorabilia. As you walk through the door, you are greeted by a strange model of something out of a horror film holding a tray for drinks service. It certainly startled me, as it was completely unexpected.

There is a main bar area with a sunken lounge off to the right and a further small room with a TV to the left. The TV was on, but nobody was watching.

At the bar, there are 4 handpulls. However, with a glass over the HPA handpull, the only one available was Butty Bach. Ciders were Thatcher's Haze & Healey's Rattler. A sign on the bar stated that "cash is king". Our round came to £5.40. Looking at what cash I had, I didn't fancy a pocketful of change from a £10 note and offered the young barmaid £10.50. Knowing that youngsters these days cannot make simple calculations, I wasn't the least bit surprised at the quizzical look I was given when I handed over £10.50, but I helped things along a bit by telling her how much change she needed to give me. Ironically, when we sat down in a window seat, a sticker on the window was promoting debit card payments and suggested that the pub was card only payments! How things go full circle!

With an attached cafe, I can imagine that this place is quite popular in the daytime. I'd imagine bikers quite like it. Even on our evening visit there were a few locals in.

A fairly nice pub which would benefit from a wider real ale selection. Unless that improves, I can't see me stopping by again.

Situated in a small hollow just off the A442 Bridgnorth - Kidderminster road its easy to miss this lovelly little pub , there is a large carpark and a large beer garden , as you enter there is a small snug to the left with an open fire , the bar is to the right and the main dining area further to the left , right past the bar are more dining areas and snugs , its a right little warren . Usual tap stuff and four handpulls , three were on with Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach plus Wood Parish Bitter , i had Butty Bach which was exellent , the service was friendlly as were the locals . An exellent pub , well worth a visit if in the area
