Above the entrance of the Central is a very impressive domed skylight and across the ceiling is a long Walker’s Warrington Ales sign. In the front windows to the right of the entrance is a snug with red banquettes, that are found throughout, and a couple of tables. Mid-way up the right-hand wall is a U-shaped serving counter that supports standard and premium keg alongside four hand pumps, three of which were in use drawing Ossett’s White Rat, Bombardier and Little Tales Beer Co’s Alchemist. To the left of the entrance is some raised seating with banquettes along the front left window and up the left-hand wall. At the rear are more seating areas, again with banquettes, and on the rear wall is a fireplace. All of the walls area panelled with etched mirrors and there are also etched glass partitions throughout the pub. During a recent midweek evening visit the televisions throughout were airing muted Premier League football while some oldies played in the background. The service was polite and my pint of Ossett was very good so I’d have no issue returning to this ornate pub again.

A very pleasant surprise for me having dodged in here to avoid a sudden downpour. The dome above you just inside the entrance is unusual and the whole place is covered in ornate mirrors and glass, there's also some good looking tiling. Four handpumps all badged and whilst Bombardier and Wainwright were still in attendance, my half of White Rat was in excellent condition. When I arrived the background music was Motown, but that suddenly changed to OAP karaoke, some of whom weren't bad at all. Happy to add this as a possible visit next time I'm in the area, rain or shine.

My fourth heritage pub of the day, this one's well preserved interior providing a fantastic array of glazed screens and a spectacular skylight above the door. The beer offering is more mundane, featuring well known national brands and a locally brewed blonde (see photo). My half of Bombardier was in good condition, however, and I spent a pleasant few minutes here (despite the background music) admiring the scenery.

Brainy Pool left this review about Central Commercial Hotel
an underrated trad pub that has an ornate interior with spleandour to match the Crown and Vines in my opinion. the beer choice admittedly not the best - Dizzy Blonde, Wainwrights, Bombardier and Rev James Original today. but at least it's something. service excellent - barmaid serving three at once, which you don't see too often these days ...

Al Bundy left this review about Central Commercial Hotel
The sister pub to The Midland next door. Similar in decor with lots of ornate glass and mirrors throughout. Larger than next door, with more tellies to show horsey sports. Now 4 handpumps on the bar though these aren't the most adventurous and given the area that's not surprising. An ornate domed ceiling is above you as you enter and today it was adorned with a large upside down Christmas tree. If no karaoke on its a nice pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Central Commercial Hotel
Very busy with those out on a Liverpool Saturday night; loud music and dancing of various degrees of proficiency. That aside, there is plenty of historic interest within. Two of three handpumps in use, offering the not-very-local Pride and Young's Special (£2.90).

Real Ale Ray left this review about Central Commercial Hotel
Large slendid looking pub opposite Central Station. The pub is traditional and has lots of etched glass mirrors. Three ales on our visit Thwaites Bomber, Wainwright and Tetley. Warning! Don't visit on a Sunday eve, unless you like extremely loud Karaoke.

Old Boots left this review about Central Commercial Hotel
A wonderful riot of etched glass and mirrors, marble fireplaces, dark wood, comfy pub seats and Britannia tables make this one of the splendid old pubs of Liverpool. Then there’s the super ceilings, the wrought iron work, and the odd but lively customers, it would be a great place to drink but for three things. The same boring old keg beers found in nearly every pub in the country, the staff appear to lack enthusiasm and a bloody irritating flashing light pipe round the bar.
