Will Larter left this review about Ye Olde Butchers Arms
Having passed this pub on my bike a few times, and not been sure whether it was just not open, or in fact permanently closed, I finally got it together to make a point of arriving here during opening hours. It's a fine ride here from Buxton over the Staffordshire Moorlands with fine views of the Roaches near Leek in the distance. The landlord, somewhat eccentrically clad in shorts, was very welcoming, and his customers all joined in the conversation, which mostly centred on where we'd come from and why. It turned out that nearly everyone there was from Sheffield, too.
There were two ales available at the time of our visit, with one hand pump vacant; I had Ran Ales Flya (from Fenton in the Potteries), and failed to make a note of the other. The beer was a good malty brew and went down a treat after that bike ride.
