Decent town centre pub with 3 ales on when I called. Ossett Blonde, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Theakston Old Peculiar. I had the Blonde which was a decent pint. Friendly service. Worth a visit.

Depressing pub with no ale of any note and hardly anybody in on Friday night. Not surprisingly, I suppose.

A multi-roomed pub which is quite down to earth. There is a small bar to your left as you enter which had one unused handpump. To the right is a larger room which seems to be set up for diners. Another bar is to the rear and here you will find 2 handpumps but only Bombardier Gold was on. A pool table is also found here. There is a beer yard out back. Friendly locals in on this afternoon visit.

Don't judge a book by its' cover!!

Looks very much like any other town centre pub. Both outside and in. A bit on the "rough and ready" side, with very friendly staff and locals. The sandwiches were very good indeed, made with some of the freshest bread I have ever had in a pub. Had a pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippin. Kept and served perfectly. Would certainly not be adverse to calling in again.

This pub fronts on the main shopping street but goes back towards the very ugly Marks & Spencer/Waitrose centre. The entrance hall is flanked by a dining room on the right and a small front bar on the left, but the main bar area is to the rear. Here the walls are all but unadorned, the exception being an abstract painting next to the pool table, based on a photo of Elvis Presley. Just one beer on hand pump when I visited, Black Sheep Bitter, but Fullers London Pride is also normally available. It's a shame that the review of 2 September 2008 gives this pub such a low rating, especially as it seems to refer to a previous ownership and is largely based on unwanted garlic in a shepherds pie!

I'm sorry to say I have nothing good to say about this place! the food took around 40 mins to arrive, the music from a juke box was way too loud for a place where people are eating, when the food did eventually arrived (Shepherds Pie) It was laced with garlic and being someone that hates garlic! didn't go down at all well. The place could do with a bloody good clean and a lick of paint. I'm sorry to be so negative about this place but this experience did spoil what would have been a very nice day out in Buxton..
