Visited on a Wednesday afternoon in July. This looks like it may have been a Greene King pub at some point based on the green signage, but there is no longer any GK branding present, so perhaps it isn't anymore.
To the front is a car park and some picnic benches.
Once inside and reaching the bar, there are four hand pulls with just two in service at the time of my visit, offering the super exciting TT Landlord and Old Speckled Hen. Old Peculiar was clipped but turned round, and the fourth handle was unclipped. My Landlord set me back £2.70 for a half.
There is a pleasant beer garden to the rear, which for some reason was getting less use than the tables in the car park at the front. This outdoor space has a raised area with a TV playing some 80s bangers on retro Top Of The Pops (marked safe from Jimmy Savile appearance).
Pool table and darts were spotted inside. Accommodation is available.
The ale selection was disappointing but it is a nice looking pub. I don't feel the need to rush back.

Greene King (surprisingly) next to the Cathedral. Offers accommodation and was my room for the night.
Staff are lovely.
Seemed popular with the locals - various tradesmen commandeering the bar area.
Beers were not the usual greene king. The TT Landlord was off and I remember a Tetley's Cask was on but I had a birra moretti.
Functional.

The previous review reads more like an advertisement...
The George is superbly situated right next door to the “cathedral of the Peak” in the lovely village or small town of Tideswell. When I visited there were a few locals dotted about the bar reading their newspapers. No conversation was possible because of the loud rock music being played. The dining room around the corner was very smart (check out the stone fireplace) and far enough away from the loudspeakers to be tolerable. Well kept beers from the Greene King range. Handy for buses to/from Buxton, Bakewell, Sheffield, Chesterfield and the Hope Valley.

Lovely friendly family pub. Mine hosts Ros and Dave Finch make you feel right at home. First class food served and families made very welcome. Wonderful garden area for outside drinking on those sunny days and evenings.Delightful part of the Peak District accessible to many tourist spots.4 letting rooms available in this hostelry. Function room for that special occasion.Real Ales also sold.

A 18th century coaching inn in a quiet village conveniently placed for exploring the National Park and visiting Buxton, Chatsworth and the historic plague village of Eyam. Quality home-cooked food
