Colin Walker left this review about 52 Canoes
The 52 Canoes Tiki Den has taken over the former The Grassmarket Bar. The beers on tap are Amstel, Three Hop, Guinness, Malt Smiths IPA, Moretti & Symonds Founder Reserve Cider. There is a list at the bar showing 165 rums which are available. The cocktails are priced at £7.95 and come in novelty style mugs shaped like Polynesian statues and supplied with plenty of paper umbrella. The décor is very Polynesian with wooden idols and canoes adorning the bar, the roof and paintings on the tables. There is a pub grub menu available.

E TA left this review about The Grassmarket Bar
Small and quite bland, the Grassmarket sits at the end of Grass Market and is easily missed in the glow of the other, livelier bars nearby. Consequently it is quieter than the others. It is not helped by the lack of real ale and a fairly frosty welcome. It's not really a bad pub, just outfaced by local competition. Consequently it's not somewhere I see returning to too often as it has little to offer compared to its neighbours.

William Purnell left this review about The Grassmarket Bar
Had my stag night here back in '75 when it was 'Jesse's Bar'. Then became 'The Globe' before its present renaming.
