Strongers . left this review about The Boat Club
In a prominent position on the riverbank overlooked by Elvet Bridge, I decided to visit the Boat Club to have a look out of the windows. Ducks and swans were having a gathering around the entrance, but I managed to fight my way through without any broken arms. The large downstairs was closed, I took this to be a restaurant area, so I made my way upstairs, which is where I wanted to go anyway. I was met at the top of the stairs by a waitress who, after informing her I’d just like a beer, escorted me past a row of large booths to the tile floored bar at the rear where she took my money at the till before going behind the counter to serve a premium lager, I can’t remember what it was, but I recall Neck Oil also being available. There’s minimal seating in the bar area, but I managed to get a table by a window with views across the river as planned. Unfortunately, a couple of blokes were arguing with raised voices in a foreign language behind me. I like a good row, but as I couldn’t understand what they were saying I decided to move to one of the booths, where I discovered that the glass I had was very dirty and needed replacing, which it was without much apology. This isn’t somewhere I’ll be visiting again.

Downstairs was shut, but the upstairs bar was open. Narrow long room with the bar down the left side. No hand pumps, so I made do with Magners.
