An excellent traditional village pub which has retained a two bar layout. The bar to one side has been facelifted with lightish wood but is otherwise unspoilt. The lounge and dining room to the other is more comfortable and has a light sprinkling of bric-a-brac but still a good pub feel despite the popularity of the food. Four changing ales are on handpump: on this visit Leeds Pale, Ossett Butterley, Brass Castle Bad Kitty and the house ale, brewed by Rudgate. The food is very good also. Recommended.
