This is a fairly large hotel with the hotel entrance tucked away at the end of a street off the A5. The bar entrance is on Bridge Street and as others have said internally it feels exactly like what it is, a hotel bar. But it’s key selling point is the outside drinking area opposite on the side of the River Dee. They were not extending the garden during Delboys visit last year, they were plonking a bloody great decking on stilts over the top of it, and although a small section of the lower garden part still exists with a couple of tables this decking , equipped with its own small bar, is the place to be when the weather is fine. Only fizz taps on the decking bar but the internal bar has one hand pump that was dispensing a particularly good Conwy Brewery Clogwyn Gold. On a shit weather day, personally I wouldn’t bother with this one, but my rating reflects the fact that I had a fine afternoon and bagged a riverside table on the decking.

Large hotel and bar. The beer garden over the road by the river is being extended and was closed off when we called. It looks like it will be very good when finished. An excellent pint of Clogwyn Gold from Conwy brewery made it a good visit. Happy to call again.

Good place to have a drink if you're going to sit in the beer garden during the summer. The inside is a bland main room hotel bar with a couple of deep chairs situated by the open fire. Usually only one real ale on and this is usually from Plassey Brewery. In the summer cross the narrow road outside and sit in the pretty beer garden that leads down to River Dee.

A large old style hotel overlooking the River Dee. The large bar/lounge area has traditional entertainment from the huge multi-keyboard piano/organ and singing from the likes of the Llangollen choir. Food available in the bar or outside in the terraced Dee gardens. Real Ale available from the local Plassey Brewery. Accommodation in 58 en-suite bedrooms.
