Steve of N21 left this review about Bank Bar & Kitchen
Formerly known as the Puzzle tree we only popped into the revamped Bank Bar and Kitchen once because this place was part of the Brecon Fringe festival weekend as well. But from what I could see, although this place refers to itself as a gastro pub, in normal operation during the day this place is clearly kitchen first and bar second. And then more of a bar vibe takes over when the kitchen shuts.
But in that respect it is the type of ultra clean sterile bar environment that I am not attracted to and one where again the design team at Ikea meets Footballers wives and has been let loose and I’ll leave it up to others who like to take their drinks seated in sterile surroundings on pink sofas with black rose patterns (I kid you not !)
It also seems to be part of the Molson Coors Empire so nothing worth drinking either, and the boast of “Fine Ales” now written on one of the pillars of the entrance seems to refer to the solitary Doom Bar pump from what I could see on my fleeting visit.
Needless to say we didn’t rush back to this one when the fringe had finished,
