A Marstons pub that appears to be well used by locals, and I was made welcome by staff and customers. There are five hand pumps with three beers: Hobgoblin Gold, Pedigree and Old Empire, the latter being in very good condition and an enjoyable drink. I'm planning another trip to Belper soon and would probably call in here again.

This is a Marston pub that still retains an old Mansfield sign outside. The original pub looks like it is the small cottage at the front that has been considerably extended back.
Inside there is the original bar area with a proper darts throw over to the left. I didn't bother to investigate the large extension at the rear.
The bar has five hand pumps which had one unused, Old Rosie Cider, Pedigree, Ringwood Razorback and Jennings Cocker Hoop. I went for the Pedigree (£2.80) which was OK.
It's not a bad place but I doubt that I would return.

Still a fair boozer but the Mansfield beers have gone. Jennings and Marstons were on offer on Saturday [21 July]. It has much inproved since the smoking ban as it really was a smoke den!

Until we moved North in 1996, this was our local. The landlord was Richard Green. Its popularity lay in the traditional layout and welcome, and the draught Mansfield and Riddings Bitter.
