A family run village pub currently owned by Palmer’s. The car park is small and adjoins the garden as well as a comfortable outside seating area. The building dates from the 17th Century, though it has been modernised, extended and knocked through to form 3 separate bars served from a central servery and a dining room. There is a well in the rear bar, covered over with a see-through panel in the floor. The floors are dark flagstones, there are strctural timbers on display and there are open fireplaces, one of which is an inglenook that has been butchered at some point in the past. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was convivial and the décor is homely. Food is freshly cooked and well priced. Only two ales on, both Palmer’s: Gold and IPA, but both in excellent condition and relatively cheap. First Press cider was also on draft. I really liked this pub and will certainly be back for lunch or a beer in the near future.
