Tris C left this review about The Redback
Originally the Red Lion, a stone lion can be seen straddling the parapet. Dating in some form from at least the 1770s, this has obviously been rebuilt at a later date and today displays fine glazed tilework, including the initials J S H in tiles that flank the entrances, a reference to James Henry Squires, landlord at the end of the 19th century.
I didn’t really dwell on this place. The very loud music on approach and darkness, punctuated by flashing lights was enough to tell me that this is in effect now a live music venue, with the website claiming that it makes ‘For the best student night in London…’. Interestingly, this is a RedCat pub, close to the Colton Arms which is also in their stable; they couldn’t be more different.
I wouldn’t return to this place as I’m a good 30 years too old for this sort of thing.

No real ale - just keg rubbish. Poor place.
