Just to add more to the history, it was my great-grandfather's horse and cart business around 1900, my Gran (Hilda Vowles), and all her siblings were born and lived upstairs

Little did I realise, when I trotted into The Old Stable in Weston super Mare, I was stepping into a little piece of history. Giovanni Ferrari  has owned the establishment since the late 1970's and is one of Weston's longest serving landlords. He has put the pub up for sale and plans to retire. Good luck to him.
The interior of the pub is much as Blackthorn described it, and there is not a lot more that I can add, other than it will be a shame to see this place either modernised or converted because it does have a certain quirkiness about it.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Old Stable

A traditional, but perhaps somewhat dated pub tucked away just around the corner from the High Street, it consists of one single room although there may also be something further upstairs going on the staircase, but we did not investigate this. If making a special journey I would suggest phoning ahead to check opening times, as I have tried to get in here countless times previously only to find it closed.

Décor wise, there is yellowing Artex on much of the walls and some dark beams on the ceiling. Flooring was predominantly red patterned carpet whilst the seating was wooden benches around the perimeter and bar stools elsewhere. The only feature of any note was some exposed brickwork, including a couple of arches. Various farming implements were scattered around and a shelf above the bar housed a collection of bottles, copper plates and such like.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, just Bank’s Bitter and Original Smooth on keg. The solitary cider was Blackthorn.
