Will Larter left this review about Wheatsheaf Hotel
A large and handsome stone-built roadside hotel on the edge of the village, the Wheatsheaf has had most of its internal walls replaced by pillars and RSJs. There's a fireplace to the left, in the one remaining wall, but this has only a solid fuel stove in it. All tables are set out for diners, with not just menus and salt- and pepper-pots, but cutlery and napkins too, so that I felt obliged to ask if there was somewhere I could sit and drink my beer. The clientele at the time of my mid-afternoon visit was parents or grandparents with young children, and the staff were winding down for the lull before the evening.
On the bar were four ales from the Marstons range: Jennings Cumberland Ale, Hobgoblin, Pedigree and Boondoggle. I had the Cumberland, an acceptable, inoffensive beer that matched the surroundings perfectly.
