The priory was the last pub I visited during a recent Tuesday evening crawl of Grantham and it was only on the list because it was a minor detour off my route back to the hotel. I initially stuck my head into the left-hand bar, but seeing just empty seating I about-faced and went into the right-hand bar where a few locals were sat at the counter that supports standard and premium keg as well as two hand pumps that stood unused. Under the front windows are banquettes and in the right rear are more banquettes adjacent to a fireplace. In the rear are a pool table and dartboard. The locals were a happy chatty lot, but the dance music in the background was unnecessary. I’d use this pub it I was a local, bit I’m not so I doubt I’ll ever return.

Locals bar with only Courage on draft. Not really worth the walk out but it's now on the list.

It was a long, hot walk to this one just to get a photo on the hottest day of the year, so we thought we might as well call in for a beer too. This is an estate pub just outside the town centre, built around the 1930s I would say, and retaining the layout of separate rooms. The bar has three hand pumps, split between the two rooms, but the only beer on at the time of our midweek afternoon visit was Timothy Taylor Landlord.
