The Five Tuns is a U shaped T5 landside bar that was very quiet during my recent early Saturday afternoon visit. A range of premium keg products were available from the bar that also supports four hand pumps. One of these was unclipped and the Youngs Ordinary was off leaving Sharp’s Doom Bar and Youngs Christmas Ale as the cask options. This heathen went for a couple of pints of Heineken (£4.90) that were served by polite members of staff. Food was available, but I didn’t eat here or see a menu. There was no background music, but a couple of televisions were showing muted Sky and BBC News.
I found the Five Tuns to be a relaxing place for a beer whilst I waited for the bag drop to open and I wouldn’t be that upset if I found myself waiting around in Terminal 5 again

Better than a JDW, it is now a fairly civilised (by airport bar standards) eating and drinking call just outside the T5 Departures Lounge. Staff were very friendly and helpful, though I did get a raised eyebrow when I asked for a pint of Doombar to accompany my cooked breakfast. Sober background muzak and applique oak panelling created a calm atmosphere, but at the end of the day it was still a concourse bar. Three ales on altogether, the Doombar was in pretty good nick, was served at the right temperature, but it was let down by being over gassed. A good FILO bar.

Actually this place is not that bad for an airport terminal bar if you just want a beer. Decent comfortable seating and the bar does support four beers, which is easily missed as only two hand pumps face you when you walk in from the terminal and you have to move around the square serving area to discover the rest. These were Pride, Doombar, Adnams and OSH the other day.
I can think of a lot worse places to be if you've got an hour to kill before meeting an arriving passenger.
Obviously don't eat here if the last review is to be believed.

Dined here 17 October 2010. Absolutely horrible. Ghastly loud music. Staff overworked and dispirited. Expensive German lager served warm. Lamb pie, accompanied by peas and glutinous mash for GBP 10.50, was minuscule and contained mostly garbanzo beans. Avoid at all costs.

I've put the map point as near as I can judge to Terminal 5
