Impressive refurb - it looks quite smart inside and out. No cask though, so a quick nose-in and a quick nose out after the obligatory half of Guinness.

Long narrow and scruffy place with the occasional spasmodic attempt at décor tidying-up which you can date quite easily. Pool table at the far end, a well-lubricated set of multi ethnic punters and a blaring jukebox with singalongs. No ale so a Guinness which tasted a bit different to normal (your guess is as good as mine). Friendly barman and patrons, which was a mild surprise. Rated 3
