Cask was a single hand pump providing Tribute, but the other hand pump was unused. Keg offering was Guinness, Fosters, Heineken, Moretti, Neck Oil, Amstel and Orchard Thieves cider.

U shaped venue with the bar servery against the back wall opposite and slightly to the right of the entrance. The venue is carpeted over to the right of the entrance and in the area in the windows opposite the bar counter, the remainder including the area around the bar counter and to the left of the bar counter is bare boarded. There is some tall, backed stools along the length of the bar counter. The area to the left of the entrance provides a lot of seating in various forms, including down a step at the rear of this area which included a large screen showing the tennis with commentary. In front of the bar counter is a regular seating area in the bay window, most significantly occupied on my visit. To the right of the bar counter is an area with a pool table and a dart board and a TV showing the evening racing. Plenty of fruit machines over in this part. There is outside seating at the front with a variety of patio style furniture, partly paved, partly astroturfed and partially covered to provide some shelter from the elements. Found it hard to warm to this place.

This pub is at least mid-19th century, but I suspect there was probably an older coaching inn incarnation; I would presume the current structure was rebuilt in the 1930s when the area was developed.
You enter across a substantial astroturf front patio into a very brightly lit multi-area room, with pale grey laminate floor or grey carpet with stains; to the left is a games area with pool, games machine and darts. There’s grey paint to the dado then white paint, furniture is modern, swag curtains, TVs aplenty showing the Olympics in silence. The bar array is modern fake Victorian; the only item of heritage is an inconspicuous fireplace with Art Nouveau polychromatic tiled surround. Customers were on the younger side and mainly harmless, apart from one bloke at the bar F-ing and C-ing away like it was going out of fashion.
At least there was some cask here, with a reversed Tribute clip, then Boltmaker at a very reasonable £2.40 a half, in good nick, served by a friendly barman.
Characterless and like a cheap hotel bar, this isn’t a great pub, but it’s miles better than the Osidge.

Slightly out from the centre of Southgate, this is an open plan, split-level pub ticking numerous boxes for its patrons, with pool table (pink and black balls), dartboard, live sports and jukebox. A staple-shaped bar serves a games area to the left, a deep bay window area in front of the bar whose space is under-utilised with the presence of five leather sofas, and a split-level area to the right. Three stumps, with only one ale on (Purity Mad Goose - £4.10 a pint and OK) with a real cider available in the form of Rosie's Pig. Fairly busy on a Sunday arvo visit, it's no world-beater, but it's cost enough inside, even if it does seem a little homogenised and the locals seemed friendly enough.

Personally I like this place. Lots of locals give it a friendly, laid back atmosphere and there's a good mix of people. Pubs are just not so busy these days, and judging by the number that have shut down, anyone who is still going must be doing something right!

I am really happy that this is my local pub, it is the only decent/ normal pub around here and it is not full of wierdos or yuppies. friendly atmosphere and pretty good food. I particularly enjoy quiz night on a sunday, even though I've never won yet!

OK sort of Pub but very quiet when I went in just a few people propping up the bar or playing Pool. It seems too have gone down hill a little bit since the last time I was in here last year looks like it needs a good deep clean. The only Ale on when I went in was Young's so I had Guinness which was served far too cold for me.

This is an OK pub with a healthy local contingent that were playing pool and darts and generally having a laugh. It's pretty spacious inside and there is plenty of outside seating.

Usual lagers were on offer alongside Bombardier and Adnams with one pump clip turned. There are a couple of televisions with Sky for watching the football etc.

I thought that this was an OK pub, but I wouldn't go out of my way to drink here.
