As described recently by OB, below, this does still have many of the qualities of a village pub, though as pointed out it puts a lot of emphasis on visiting diners. Three of the handpumps were in use when we came, though the 6X had just run out. The other options were Horizon and Swordfish, both in excellent condition. On keg were Heineken, Moretti, Thatcher’s Gold and Haze, and Evolution Session IPA. There were some locals in, and we found them friendly and welcoming, as were the bar staff, while a multiplicity of dogs kept ours entertained. Definitely worth a visit for food or drink when passing through the New Forest.

A former village pub now partly a family dining type place run by Wadworths. The original front is still quite pub like whereas the rear is a greet and seat restaurant area, most punters will make a rear entry from the car park at the back. If you come in the front, there are six pulls of Wadworths beers facing you and a much nicer old pub with a few separate areas including a snug. Old beams, traditional furnishings and decor make the front rooms comfortable and cosy. The building is thatched and has white washed walls. The rear extension is nicely done out, the menu and quality is standard pub food probably the from Brakes Bros ping and fling range. It has a large “family garden” at the back. Serious drinkers need to stick in the front part.

One of the friendliest pubs in the area.Superb food at reasonable prices,well cooked and served piping hot.Have been there about 10 times and never been dissapointed
