Village pubs have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years or so, and this is no exception. Just three hand pumps now, and a recent refurbishment is in the modern style, with any hint of older times limited to a chimney breast stripped of its plaster and revealed as having second rate brickwork after all; and a few framed b&w photos of the village. My visit was at around 2:30 so clearly not during a normal mealtime for a Tuesday, but there were five members of staff, two behind the bar, two on the floor and a greeter behind a desk. No wonder pubs can't make any money.
Abbeydale Moonshine was joined on the bar by two from Welbeck Abbey: Red Feather and a pale beer called Bees Knees, which has the pub's logo, so it's probably Skylight rebadged. Both around NBSS 2.5. This is a handsome old pub in local stone, opposite the church, but it has completely lost sight of its roots. Or maybe I'm just an old gadgie indulging in nostalgia.

Called into this 2016 Good Beer Guide pub on a CAMRA coach trip, and enjoyed beers from the selection of 2 Harthill Village beers, Sonnet 43, Abbeydale, and 3 Welbeck Abbey beers. There is a full sized snooker table and function room, and they hold a beer and music festival in July. Home to the local Morris men and folk club.
