A superbly reconditioned village pub with a history dating back to Medieval times. There is plenty or architectural character, much of which was retained when the interior was renovated in the last few years. There are parquet floors, exposed timbers and an inglenook with a woodburner. The layout is open plan, having had the main rooms knocked through, and there are a couple of snugs with tables. There is seating at the front, which is adjacent to a quiet village street, not on the main road, and there is a pleasant garden at the rear. The seating arrangement includes barstools, which have been reinstated post-covid. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, and the food was very good albeit expensive. Ales on were TT Landlord and Stroud Budding, both in perfect condition. They also offer B and B. If you don’t mind the prices, this is one of the better pubs in the area, and I’ll certainly be back.
