This was one of two pubs I tried to visit before they closed for the afternoon. As with the Raven at Poulshot, I'd found both closed at 2:30, when they were supposed to be open until 3pm. At The Well, I did get to speak to the landlord who popped his head out of the window and explained that they'd closed as they were quiet, but would re-open around 5:45pm.
As such I returned just after 6pm to find the pub reasonably busy. It has quite a modern interior with some tables and chairs on the left as you enter, some sofas near the bar and further seating off to the right towards what looked like a conservatory.
Doom Bar & Boltmaker were the real ales. Neither appealed to me, especially as I was driving. So, the landlord looked at me a bit quizically when he saw I had returned and was having a soft drink! I didn't like to tell him that it wasn't the beer choice that brought me back and that it was more about my obsession about visiting new pubs!
