Clive Thompson left this review about Café Rouge
It's a Cafe Rouge, so depending on which side of the debate you sit, it should either have no place on this site or it should begrudgingly be tolerated. But this place is certainly worthy of mention for its history. It's a wonderful art deco building that was built in the 1930's as an exhibition hall for the Samuel Ryder Seed Company. Samuel Ryder, who of course went on to found golf's Ryder Cup, was also mayor of St. Albans and had a top floor office in the building next door. This building subsequently became a post office and is now a hotel.
