The main downstairs bar of this place was closed for refurbishment so the function room upstairs was being used during my visit. It is a large area with a dance floor and space for a disco or live band to set up. The usual standard draught selection was available and I was served a very good pint of Guinness by the polite barman. There is a plasma screen either side of the small horseshoe bar and another smaller screen behind the bar which all show Sky Sports.

Smoking is done on the metal stairwell with the pigeons out the back door, which is better than walking back downstairs to smoke in the street.

Although shut I imagine the downstairs bar follows the usual Hennessys formula of standard draught, plenty of flat screens for horse racing or football and a dartboard which is usually at the rear before reaching the toilets. This is conjecture, but it would be odd if this place wasn’t the same as the other five I have been in.
