Typical old-style Wetherspoon's which is easily your best bet for finding a cask ale in the Wembley area.
I think the interior has had a bit of a refresh since the last time I was in here, which was probably pre-Covid given I haven't previously reviewed it on this site. The last time I was in, it was looking a little run-down. But it's clearly been given a lick of paint and my drinking colleague informed me that the the toilets have had a bit of a makeover too.
There's always an interesting mix of people in here, with people from all sorts of cultures, reflecting the multi-cultural diversity of the area. However, there always seems to be a fair number of alcoholics at any time of day. I saw one guy who could hardly stand getting a wedge of notes from his person at the bar and dropping a tenner on the floor. I did the honourable thing and let him know, but received no thanks at all!
TVs show revolving news stories and there are the inevitable fruit machines scattered around.
On the real ale front, Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best are the regular beers. Guests for our visit yesterday were Sharp's Sea Fury, Marston's Old Empire & Mad Squirrel Trident. A boxed cider in one of the fridges was Thistly Cross Whisky Cask.
This has been a regular haunt for me down the years, as we often meet up for a curry nearby. As Wetherspoon's go, this is a pretty poor version. As pubs and bars in Wembley go, it's an oasis.

Making my way on the London Sprial walk from Arnos Green to Wembley Central - this was very handy for a cheap lunch and end of walk refreshment.
1872 Elland Brewery Porter (recent prize winner) included in a meal dinner of Chicken in a basket for less than a tenner.
Cant knock it. I was tempted by a new build fullers near the stadium, which would have cost me nearly triple.

About as basic and formulaic a spoons as you can get but it does it’s job if crawling to/from Wembley and central station.

This is a mid-sized Spoons in what is a rather grubby part of north London. Looks like it's had an internal refit (it certainly wouldn’t have looked like this in 1991) and is rather nice-looking now as well as being light and bright, which doesn’t happen often in JDWs. Decent rear patio area down a few steps. Five ales on with two true guests in Sambrook Porter and Redemption Dusk which was in good nick. No event on at Wembley (no plastic glasses or jacked-up prices) so in its regular context I thought it was OK.

Large and pretty poor Spoons in what is a pretty poor area for pubs. Very few handpumps and, even though I am usually tolerant, an annoying clientele. Loads of them though and nearly every table was full.

Mid-sized 'spoons - cheap and (mostly) cheerful in normal operation, but dreadful when there is an event on at the stadium (although you can sometimes manage to get served if you can manoeuvre your way through the crush to the far end of the bar). Several large screen showing major sporting events. Just five handpumps, but at least three of these offered festival beers (e.g. Tutto fa Brodo) on my last visit (albeit with the price ramped up to £3.45 as it was an event day).

I visited here today for the first time in over 15 years. It's a converted furniture shop dating from January 1991 and is much bigger than I remembered it. I only counted 5 handpumps, which for a spoons this size is pretty pathetic. They seem to have a fair sized Irish contingent who seem to only like drinking lager or guinnes. All five pumps were on serving Abbot, Ruddles, Everards Sunchaser, Hobgoblin and much to my annoyance London Pride with no price tag. The two guests (Sunchaser and Hobgoblin) were £1.99, unlike the three North London ones I visited a few days earlier. I tried the Sunchaser which was OK and the Abbot (£2.39) which was very good.
I woudn't go here or anywhere else in Wembley on a match day. I don't blame them for jacking the prices up. Even the Asian restaurants are full of baying lager swilling morons on these occasions.
It's not the best Spoons around but on a Saturday lunchtime with no match or other event was OK, doing a fairly brisk trade and coping well.

This is a large Wetherspoons that was very busy with a mix of students and pensioners on my Thursday afternoon visit. Along with the large standard draught selection there are six hand pumps drawing three usual spoons ales and only one guest as one pump had a ‘coming soon’ tag attached to it. I found the staff to be polite and I didn’t have to wait long for my well poured Guinness to arrive in my hand. The typical Wetherspoons décor is present here along with the numerous drinks and food promotions advertised on the walls and every table.
I counted two plasma screens which were unsurprisingly showing muted BBC news and there is also a projector screen at the rear which has probably been put in to show the World Cup which is on terrestrial TV.
There are three tables out the front of the pub on the busy Wembley High Road and there is some more seating at the rear in what is advertised as a beer garden, but is in fact an alleyway and stairwell.
I thought that this was a below average Wetherspoons and I wouldn’t plan to return.

Quite possibly the worst Wetherspoons I have ever been in and I have notched up several in my time. If you plan to come here when there is an event on at the stadium, forget it. Firstly you won’t get served. I once queued merely out of fascination to see how long it would take. 30 minutes was the answer; 20 minutes to get to the bar and 10 playing the invisible man to the bar staff who were totally oblivious to the art of serving people in turn. Every visit I have made has been met by a batch of reversed clips and on event days the prices of what beers are on are hiked up to exploit the increased customer numbers (I took this matter up with Wetherspoons Head Office without getting any satisfactory answer). The bottom line is you will pay extra to cover “increased staffing” and yet the bar will be woefully undermanned and no-one will be about to clear the tables that will inevitably be piled high with empty glasses and plates. Even the pub itself was lacking any real focus and given the proximity of Wembley Stadium and ‘Spoons usual research into local history, there was very little to catch the eye apart from a superb giant aerial picture of the pre-‘66 Stadium. A small outside covered patio caters for the smokers and sun lovers but overall, I cannot recommend this awful place to even the most fervent ‘Spoons fan, especially when the Stadium is in use.
