A GBG listed village pub primarily serving its local community but with a well-justified reputation for good beer. The building is a traditional stone village house in what has become a small town. There is a small car park, easy to miss if you don't know it's there. Inside, the beams and inglenooks contrast with the more modern functional carpets and decor. The pub is not dog-friendly, though it wasn't clear whether they were allowed in the small paved garden at the front. The locals were not the most welcoming, but the staff were friendly. Ales on draft were Butcombe's, Pride and Sharp's, plus Rosie's Pig cider on draft. Definitely worth stopping if passing.
