Nearest pub to the station and it doesn't disappoint in that respect as it’s a classic cliché railway pub; two-tone gloomy grey paint, naff music and a general air of young local transience over the dull inverse T-shaped interior. Oddly, there was a hidden away room which was quite upmarket (and empty) which I took to be for dining. A couple of ales on, my Hog's Back TEA was flat and insipid (NBSS 1.5).

Gastro rework of an old hotel with a trendy modern interior, all grey boards and bare floors, with just the occasional original feature surviving. Behind the bar is a slightly cosier internal area and there is a large garden to the rear including children's play area. Draught ales at time of visit were TT Landlord, TEA and Tribute - condition ok. Handy for station but not much else attracts.

A split level pub ,the upper being the main bar area, long and narrow, down a couple of steps is the dining area with a further like minded room to the left. There was a vast array of keg offerings on the bar but nothing too crafty. Only three handpumps serving up GK IPA, Butcombe Bitter and St Austell Tribute, nothing too exciting there but the Tribute was ok.this pub is alright but there are better watering holes down in the town.

Very close to Farnham station, this pub offers gourmet food and hostel accommodation, verging on an oxymoron I'd say. Fresh off the train and thirsty for the first of the day I was however drawn in by the sight through the window of three handpumps offering Skinners Betty Stogs, Belhaven Golden Bay (and GKIPA). The bar area is small, bare boarded and lacks any decent or comfortable seating, this being limited to stools at a window shelf or at a couple of barrel tables. To the right, down a couple of steps, is the dining area, several were eating, although the "gourmet" adjective appears to generally refer to burgers, ribs, grilled chicken, steaks etc. There are a set of record decks down here, reinforcing the conversation I overheard between the bar manager and someone that this may be a lively evening venue. A few bookshelves and old Singer sowing machines add interest in this area. There is a larger, almost hidden room at the rear, mainly with sofas and small tables, triangular wooden frames carrying small fairy lights fixed to the ceiling. The rear has a garden with an arbour with overhead blue twinkly lights.
Clear glass windows have the mulberry tree motif etched on matching the pub sign but there are a couple of stained glass windows in the dining area. TV was off, music playing, bet it gets louder later. An ok pint of Betty Stogs and a decent introduction to Farnham.
