This is a fairly standard Greene King family friendly food pub. There is a play barn attached, which can be booked for parties etc.
There are four hand pulls but on entering only two are initially visible, with the other two being hidden at the far end of the bar. Despite all four pumps being clipped (Old Speckled Hen, Old Golden Hen, Greene King IP and Black Sheep Bitter) only one was available - the Old Speckled Hen - at £4 a pint. This was drinkable but that's all that can be said about it. I went for a Guinness next, which was preferable to a second pint of the Hen.
Not a great experience from a drinker's point of view - an apparent choice of four rather unexciting ales with only one actually being available! I have been in here a few years ago for a meal and there was a guest ale on that I seem to recall was pretty nice. I have no plans to rush back and unless you are here for the play area or dining it's probably not worth a special trip based on my most recent visit.
