Alan Winfield left this review about The White Star

The White Star is a three storey pub that is on a pedestrianised street in the middle of Stoke.
Once inside the pub had a single room that had different drinking areas, the bar was to the left and there was a raised area to the rear right which was cordened off,the pub was carpeted and had comfortable seating if you could get one.
This pub is a Titanic tied house and there was a decent choice of their beers on the bar,i had a drink of Titanic Steerage which was a really nice drink, the other beers i noted were White Star and Iceburg.
The pub was packed on my early evening vist with Stoke fans and people going for a night out,so why was a third of the pub out of use at such a busy time.
I would have enjoyed my time here if it was less busy and all of the pub was in use.

A must visit for Titanic ale fans. They seem to have most of the Titanic range with the Iceberg in top form. They also have guest beers but whilst in Stoke I think it's best to stay with the local brew.

Full range of Titanic ales, including their seasonal brews are available together with Tiger and four rotating guests.Ale quality is very high and the barstaff give tasters and are very informative on the beer range. There is also a selection of continental bottled lagers and a drinks menu.Good value food featuring local pies from George of Stone is available at lunchtime and a lively atmosphere in this revamped pub. There is an acoustic session on Wednesday's and a 60's and 70's disco on Saturday nights. The interior features raised tables and seats opposite the bar and two other seating area away from the bar.A small bar and lounge can be hired upstairs. There are a few tables outside when the weather is good.Best pub in the town of Stoke, one of the best in the Potteries.

The White Star continues to flourish and now feels like an established top quality boozer. The decor is smart but traditional with lots of wood and Titanic memorabilia. Food is high quality, locally sourced pub nosh with a variety of pies offered from George's of Stone. The real highlight though, as ever, is the beer. A wide range of 5 Titanic ales are on as regulars including White Star, Sundeck and Steerage and these are supplemented by 5 varying guests which included another Titanic, Capt. Smiths, Tiger and Brewsters Rutterkin. All the ale was top quality and well kept. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and more than willing to offer tasters. An excellent ale house and probably the best in Stoke.

This is a real find. Titanic have redeveloped the place well and offer 5 Titanic ales as well as 5 guests which tend to include one or two seasonal Titanic ales and an Everards. Staff are knowledgable and friendly and the ale quality excellent in the case of Iceberg and White Star which I had.
