Fuller's seem to be opening pubs all around town, and this one couldn't be much more central, sitting on the tourist attraction of Trafalgar Square. There's not much to add to what others have said. The naval theme is still very evident - as well as all manner of naval paraphernalia (e.g. capstain themed table in the middle; brass bridge telegraph, etc) around the place, there's a large wooden mast-like column on the left with a couple of White Ensigns hanging from it plus a couple of Union Flags masquerading as Union Jacks. The upstairs mezzanine floor is still reserved for diners, and the downstairs Gun Deck is still a less crowded room than the main ground floor bar. The Gun Deck does indeed have its own gun - a 9-pounder, complete with gun carriage, dating from around 1800. You don't see one of those every day.
Long Man Blonde was on when I visited, plus a selection from the Fuller's range. Obviously this place is very food centric, but I didn't get to see a menu. As well on the upstairs Quarter Deck, some of the tables in the main bar area were reserved, and others were laid for diners. Indeed one of the young waiting staff had to check that it was OK for us drinkers to use one of the tables set for diners. I got the impression that we weren't the sort of customers they were looking for - i.e. a bunch of blokes looking for a pint. Nonetheless I quite liked this pub, even though it was the most expensive that we visited during our mini crawl of the Strand area. It's been decorated to a very high standard, even though it obviously doesn't have much in the way of traditional pub character. It's OK, but there are better pubs nearby.

I had never noticed this pub previously when out and about but research shows it is a relatively young venture having been converted to a Fullers Ale & Pie house last year from some sort of Scottish themed place. They have made a nice job of it, the fixtures are of high quality and the naval theme comes over and works. The main bar on the ground floor has a very high ceiling and is centred by an impressive chandelier, the front corner has a series of booths with high backed buttoned leather benches, each marked by the name a ship of Her Majesty, there are naval flags around a column and a framed display of naval alphabetical flags which indicate various messages to other ships. Stairs lead down to The Gun Deck which has a series of booths and the feel of a lower ship's deck. Aside the stair are framed maritime and RN prints including one of The Earl Beatty, the name maker of my local pub.
There is a mezzanine deck to the rear of the ground floor, now I have been in this situation before; up I ventured, expecting this to be a good spot to survey the pub from only to be "greeted" by some young jobsworth girl who approached me enquiring if I was intending to eat. I replied in the negative and was told without any sense of apology that the area was purely for dining. This is despite no such signage at the foot of the stair and at not exactly peak time 3.30pm on Saturday only one table up there actually were. Several were not even set. I thanked her for her welcome and suggested that some reality might be trained into the staff. I don't think she listened.
Fullers beers obviously, a good range of them on over the eight pumps, six shared, Pride, Chiswick, ESB, Seafarers, HSB, guesting was Castle Rock Harvest Pale, good quality but £4.35, I suppose a combination of Fuller's and the closest pub to the real centre of London mean you'd expect that.
Apart from the stupid rigid policy for the mezzanine, this is a nice pub and despite the Trafalgar Square/Westminster area being chock-a-block with tourists on a decent Saturday afternoon was not over full and refreshingly civilised. A 7 but down to a 6 for you know why.

I like what Fullers have done here with their refurb, as the interior of this pub most definitely fits the name The Admiralty. This is a Fullers Ale and Pie house, with the full range of fullers ales and pies. The bar on the left was finished with a granite counter and the timber work painted in black, with gold painted inlay. The Quarter Deck upstairs was mainly set out for dining. I went for Oliver's Island Golden Ale, which was superb.

Now owned by Fullers and high quality interior.large ground floor bar with upstairs balcony.Lots of chandeliers, mirrors and comfortable seating.Booths as well.Money well spent on the interior but not for pub traditionalists.7 OR 8 handpumps with the full Fullers range so I tried the George Gales -fire cracker.Good condition but dull beer.

This place is an expensive Whisky bar and restaurant that I was dragged into last week. The food looked good, but the Scottish bottled lager and especially the whisky beer were not to my liking. I also found the kilted barman to be very disinterested in the punters.
There is a dining area upstairs from the gastro bar and what looked like a night club with dance floor downstairs, but I could be very much mistaken. The toilets were also ‘DOONSTAIRS' (their words, not mine) miles from the bar through a network of darkened corridors.
The décor is well done and inventive, but I wouldn’t return here just for a drink again.
