Wolf at the Door has some bench seating to the left of the entrance and more seating up the left-hand wall. The serving counter runs up the right where keg fonts line the white tiled back bar. A black marker has been used to write the options above each tap, a couple of Wolf Lagers were available alongside a limited premium and craft range due to taps being off or unused. My visit was on a Tuesday so I will cut them some slack for not having more options. Upstairs are a function room that was closed and five unisex toilets, the two I tried didn’t have locks on the doors. I wasn’t very impressed with this place, and the niche background music didn’t help. I’m not the target demographic for here so this was my last visit.

Oh dear. Two handpumps, only 1 on on this visit. £3.50 a pint and sadly £2 for a half. So if you like being ripped off, enjoy. Dont care what upstairs is like. I would describe the place but sod it.

Seems to be losing its way a bit recently. Called in last night to find no real ale, so we left it.

Now has an upstairs bar with 3 handpumps which Mr Ward apparently didn't visit. Always busy and buzzy with a mixed crowd. Beware the ceiling lights upstairs, even the shortest person can walk into them. :-))

Called in again last night and there was a good buzz about the place. Hornbeam Lemon Blossom on the handpump which was good. The door knockers on the toilet doors have gone now and now have a painted man & woman on red doors.

A bit of a bohemian bar is this one. It’s got a small upstairs area with red walls covered in photos and posters, a stuffed Elks head and a couple of interesting clocks. There’s a mixture of seating in here ranging from leather sofas to dining chairs and tables. Downstairs is an even smaller lounge filled with cream coloured comfy sofa’s and seats. The toilet doors are covered in door knockers which is unusual. There is only 1 handpump on the bar, and last Tuesday they were selling Hornbeam Hoppy Presence which was pretty good. It’s a very pleasant place and well worth a visit. Be warned though, it gets very full at weekends.

Very lively atmosphere on the Friday night I visited and the interior decoration is interesting and colorful. This is definitely a venue for the younger crowd. It gives the impression of trying to be slightly bohemian but feels like a commercial copy of something else, I can't quite put my finger on it. It would have been nicer if the one hand pump in here actually had an ale on it, or the bar person serving could actually have been bothered with me trying to purchase anything interesting. I can't imagine how this place even got in The Good Beer Guide, perhaps it was on off day. If your passing pop in, apparently when they do have a cask ale on it is usually a nice one, but no need to go out of your way.

I don’t know what this bar is like during the day, but during the evening it becomes very raucus and lively. This is the sort of bar I wouldn’t be seen dead in in London, but there again a bar like this in London would never have a decent ale on – but this one had on Kelham Island Best when I visited the other evening, which is definitely an ale worth drinking. For some reason I quite enjoyed my visit here; I wouldn’t say that it’s a must visit bar by a long chalk, but if you’re looking for a lively venue then this one is worth a punt.

Odd Bar is part of a small Manchester grouping (alongside Odder, on Oxford Road, and Oddest, in Chorlton). I've been to Odder, and against my better judgement always thought it was quite reasonable, stocking a couple of decent ales. There was just one in Odd on my visit - Abbeydale Aledritch (£2.95) which was in fair nick. Odd is in much the same vein as its little sister, with bright colours, funky lighting and a vaguely scruffy film-poster decor. Its not bad, and probably one of the better ones in this part of Manchester city centre, but I think I prefer Odder, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on.
