This is another "no-nonsense" pub along this stretch of road. By which I mean that it has no airs or graces and is unpretentious, which is certainly a good thing. It's carpetted, furnished with normal tables and chairs, but with a load of tall stools at the bar of course. It has a dartboard, plus they have live music on - in fact the area on the far right had a drum kit set up no doubt for the appearance of The Stiles (possibly not a tribute to the great Nobby) on the Friday I was in.
Unfortunately, and unsurprisingly I guess, real ale is not a main player here, with just Doom Bar (£1.75 a half) on. I didn't see food advertised, nor a menu, but they must do food as there were condiments on all the tables in the little sachets that are popular with at least one other distinguished PuG reviewer!
This is a straightforward locals' pub. A more diverse real ale selection would be a big plus (although my Doom Bar was in good shape) but I guess there isn't much call for more as I doubt whether many of the regulars are real ale afficionados.
