‘Chocolate box’ thatched roofed gastropub buried away in the countryside. Raised grassed beer garden with cracking views across the valley. Tastefully done-out inside, though it’s a bit too much on the open-plan side to be anything particularly memorable. Slate floor, jumbo inglenook fireplace with a stove, black beams. Has won numerous Gastropub awards and these are proudly displayed. Friendly landlord who wasn't fussed about us just drinking. Three ales on; Hanlons Yellohammer, Otter Ale and Otter Amber with Butcombe turned round. The Amber was a super drop too so I was pretty impressed with the whole set-up, really. 7.5
