An up-itself canal-side pub which is worth avoiding. There is a large outside area, part patio, part garden, with tables and chairs but little by way of shelter and no wifi signal. Most of the rear garden is used as parking for caravans and motor homes, the occupants of which make up their target clientele. Inside is divided into two separate bar areas, both feeling like a new chain pub, but without the charm. The staff were functional, not really engaging or polite until it was our time to leave. They claim to be dog-friendly – plenty of water bowls outside, but no dogs are permitted inside. Two ales on, Shropshire Gold in very good condition, and Landlord, which we didn’t hang around to try. Food was standard ready-made fodder, over-priced and grudgingly served. We shall be avoiding this one next time we’re passing as it was not at all welcoming.
