E TA left this review about Ashill Inn
A traditional, unspoilt village pub which is grockle-free and very convivial. There is a gravel car park at the side, and there is a small lawned garden with benches, chairs and an outside bar used for functions and when the weather allows. Inside, the two front rooms have been conjoined to form a single bar, half of it carpeted, an inglenook at one end and a 1970s stone fireplace the other, a TV screen over the latter. Ceiling timbers are on display. In addition there is an extension at the back with a laminate floor, which is used as a restaurant. The restaurant food is excellent, plus they offer very good bar snacks, large portions, freshly cooked, at very low prices. One ale on draft, Dartmoor IPA, plus a dry pump. The Dartmoor went off while we were there and was immediately replaced with Otter Ale. Both beers were in perfect condition. Other drink choices were Mahou, Amstel, Amber Fresh, two from Devon Mist and Guinness. It’s a proper working village pub, more dogs than humans in the bar, lively young bar staff and a superb pub atmosphere, well worth a visit.
