Not quite sure how to review this hotel. It is catering for carvery type crowds, which was the purpose of my recent visit and as a carvery was very good and to be recommended. Bar wise there were 5 real ales on handpump, with cask marque emblazened over the pump clips which usually raises my suspicions. The beers were Butcombe, Butcombe Christmas Steps, Teignworthy Gun Dog, Dartmoor Jail Ale and Lytham Blonde. I'm beginning to think I had a mental moment with this as it is from Lancashire - I guess they must have done a swap deal with a local brewer. However all beers were in good nick. So overall everything was good. But I personally don't like these sort of establishments, which marks it down a bit. It may have a different ambience on non carvery nights. Nothing wrong with beer or food.
