This is a well run family pub that serves brilliant beers and food. All you want to find in a local here. Converted cottages make it a multi-roomed pub. Plenty of ground area outside with boules pitches, and where they put a marquee for beer festivals. Have live acts, special acts, Quiz nights and Karaoke nights. We enjoyed the pensioners special Sunday lunch today, and went down with a perfect Bays Devon Dumpling. Quiet in the restaurant area, and a big screen showing sports in the bar.
Revisited May and June 2011. No change. Still excellent food and beer choice. Bus service 543 runs hourly between Redruth and Truro Mon - Sat only.
Revisited today for budget buster lunch, choice of 2 meals for £7 and enjoyed beers from Exeter and Tintagel breweries. No problems with beer or food, and the puddings were great. Bus is now the 43 run by First. Beer festival coming up 16th June. It was a good one last year so looking forward to it. Back from the beer festival and much as the beers are well kept I did not like the pricing policy of £3 a pint and £2 a half.
The above are up to 2012. We enjoyed this pub on various days in 2013, and are now back visiting weekly in 2014 for a while for the great ales and food. It has been awarded Pub of the Year by Cornwall CAMRA and is now the official Community Library. They do a lot for the local community and have live music, quizzes and a variety of events. The bus service now is the 47 which runs between Redruth and Truro and runs through Vogue/St Day where the pub is.
